Project OverviewFINDING A VOICE |

---|---|---|---|
Balance(!!) was at the center of this entire project. Admittedly, I found it rather difficult in the beginning to squeeze my own voice into the project. As I made myself more aware of Sato's visual intentions, beyond face value, it became easier to adopt a similar decision-making process; doing my best to embody his values within my own thinking.

PosterARTIFACT 1 |
|
---|---|
I found myself exploring many iterations to this poster before settling on the final. Settled into the Japanese letterforms are layered Images of Sato's 'Box Studies', they're difficult to pick up, but through experimenting with blending modes and hue adjustments, they add subtle gradation to the letter's curves. The airbrushed path that slices through the letterform pays homage to a recurring visual motif in Sato's later works. |

A display of Sato's work, and personal life; a progression both in story, and in color. |
AnimationARTIFACT 3 |
|
---|---|
Animated abstractions of Sato's work and philosophies. There was struggle in the attempt to integrate his work not as static Images of art, but as forms that carry themselves seamlessly from one frame to another. |
