PROBLEM SPACE

For independent artists, Spotify’s low per-stream payouts make alternative revenue streams, such as merch sales, essential for sustaining their careers. However, the current placement of merch at the bottom of an artist’s profile makes it easy to overlook, limiting its visibility and potential sales.

By integrating merch announcements directly into the platform’s existing ecosystem—through features like in-feed updates or event-based promotions—artists can better capture fan attention at key moments, increasing engagement and revenue opportunities while fostering a more direct connection with their audience.
